The other day at Nandos this family took and least 3 whole weeks to order their food. They clearly had not been to Nandos before. After days of discussing if they should try mild or lemon and herb they finally ordered a salad to be shared between the mother, father and daughter while their 10yo son had a whole chicken to himself.

If I bought a whole chicken from Nandos I would take Takkun and I’d stuff the chicken on my fist and run around the store singing David Bowie’s song ‘Young Americans’. Why Young Americans? Because I can’t think of any songs about chickens. Meanwhile Takkun would be singing ‘mew mew mew mow mew!’ which roughly translates to “give me your fist chicken human!”

Takkun and I would both frown on the all the people eating lemon and herb Nandos. They should have just bought a Big Mac.

I’m starting to think there might be money in starting an elevator school.. or possibly “spatial awareness for plebs 101”

I will often be minding my own business in an elevator only for everyone that gets in on the next floor decides that I look like an awfully friendly chap and they need to rub themselves all over me. Then, when I need to get out of the elevator, I have to unwillingly molest everyone to get through the crowd in the corner and bust out of the elevator to run free with my fellow humans.. or wilderbeasts.

Sometimes I wish I was friends with Mr T, then when I wanted to go for a walk at lunch time I would get him to speed down the mall in front of me, yelling at all the people

“Get outta the way foo!”

Then I could walk down the mall without any annoyingly slow people getting in my way, or those even more frustrating people that stop, convening in the most logical walking path to discuss the hand bag they just bought and hiw it defines them as a person.

Foo.

so there might be a reason that takkun has so many impersonators. sarah spotted a video of a takkun impersonator on the youtubes and someone in the comments asked what kind of cat he was.. to which the response was a bengal. reading up a bit about bengals and they sound very much like takkun. would certainly explain his size. i always associated bengals with spots though, but turns out stripes just like takkun’s are common, so the spotted bengals command more money.

all of these cats are impersonators of takkun

i was watching pawn stars with sarah last night and we were being abused by channel 7’s advertising. it was like a battle between mcdonalds and red rooster for $2 food supremacy. sarah decided that probably the only thing worth while from either menu is the cheeseburgers, but decided overall that the shiny grease covered mcdonalds overall offering looked better.

to which i proclaimed “but of course it does, red rooster are trying to sell things that look like crumbed turds and dog nuggets” – according to sarah, this is apparently what should be said out loud.

http://www.redrooster.com.au/Menu/#/2-Snacks/

red rooster certainly need to make more effort on their $2 menu though. who would spend $2 on a single crumbed turd (chicken strip) or for 3 dog nuggets (apple bites) or the pineapple fritter that is a kilo of cinnamon and sugar away from being a donut.

i’m not sure if its just my building, but people can never wait to get into the elevator. i guess not just my building because people are equally as pushy trying to get onto the train.

as i was trying to exit the hideous gold mirrored box that is the magical vertical transport tube of my building, a swarm of mindless people pushed in before i had even gotten out. all i could think of was zombies.. special zombies i suppose as they completely missed the “mmm.. brains!” part. lucky me i guess.

galco’s soda pop stop…
galco’s soda pop stop… avatar

by on Sep.10, 2012, under ramblings

when sarah and i first started dating, we were stuck for ideas of things to do. after all brisbane is a pretty sleepy little place. we made a list. i was maybe a little bit ambitious at that stage and i guess in an around about way of letting her know that i was serious business about her, i added in some things like “take a photo from behind the hollywood sign” and “eat french toast.. in france”

being the technological kid that i am, the list was on my phone. being the cautious kid that i am, i backed up that list along with all my other apps in case of some kind of disaster. me being the somewhat clumsy kid that i am, somehow deleted the backups when i upgraded android.

one of the things on the list of things to do was go to galco’s soda pop stop in los angeles. this was one of the more recent additions after we saw the shop on vimeo.

[ylwm_vimeo height=”400″ width=”600″]6368439[/ylwm_vimeo]

John Nese is the proprietor of Galco’s Soda Pop Stop in LA. His father ran it as a grocery store, and when the time came for John to take charge, he decided to convert it into the ultimate soda-lover’s destination. About 500 pops line the shelves, sourced lovingly by John from around the world. John has made it his mission to keep small soda-makers afloat and help them find their consumers. Galco’s also acts as a distributor for restaurants and bars along the West Coast, spreading the gospel of soda made with cane sugar (no high-fructose corn syrup if John can avoid it).

so i figured i’d rebuild the list slowly, as i remember things that were on it. big things that i don’t want to forget. if they’re here i know we’ll do it.

it will be a bit of an adventure driving around to get there. i’d hope to stay around the beaches again near marina del rey / santa monica when i return to the usa. an adventure driving right along the edge of the los angeles cbd.

an adventure well worth it.
